They make 4 questions as the instrument to collect data, and this is their questionnaire

Hiii, on Wednesday October 15th , 2014. We have an Advanced English Engineering Class again :D. 

Firstly, Mr Aji explain about the task for 2 weeks again. It’s about Simple Research Plan. The students must make a different title about ICT for their research. For example the title is “Study of Student Behavior on Using Their Gadget During The Class” 

The content of research is : 

• Title 
• Objective (to explore or describe the title)
• Research Method (Using observation, survey, questionnaire)
• Respondent (Who is the object of the research)
• The number of respondent
• Respondent’s Location (Where is the respondent)
• Duration Research (How long the research will do, the maximum time is 2 weeks)

After that, as Mr. Aji said last week that we will continued to present about interview the foreigner but just explain about the differentiation ICT in Indonesia and the country where the foreigner come from. The rule is the group must add the number of group code with 1, if one of group had group code R4 last week, so this week its group code is R5. One of group that have R5 is Feby and Endah, but I see that in this class Endah is absent because she must prepare JB ITC 2014. 

Firstly, Mr Aji chooses one of group code. He chooses R5 so Feby who is alone in that group comes forward to play his record with the foreigner. The group that have a record with the foreigner just play the record and give a question to their friends. Mr Aji helps Feby to set the sound and then the record plays. All of students in that class give more attention to hear the record, and so Mr Aji does. 

After play the record, Mr. Aji asks to Feby to choose 3 groups and will answer the question from Feby. Then Feby chooses the first group and gives a question “How long he’ll stay in Indonesia ?”. The first group’s answer is 2 years, then Mr Aji asks to Feby “Is it correct ?”, then Feby said that it’s correct. So Feby continued to choose the second group and ask about “What does he thing about Indonesia?” and the 2nd group can answer the question. Then Feby chooses the last group that will answer the question. the question is about the differentiation ICT in Indonesia and the foreigner’s country. The last group said that the differentiation is in America everyone has a computer, and the answer is correct. After then Mr Aji asks Feby to chooses one group that will come forward to present. So Feby chooses the group that have group code ‘L2’, and then there are about 5 groups that come forward.

Haiii…On Wednesday October 8th, 2014, This is the 8th class of Advanced English Engineering. Mr. Aji gives a task about interview a foreigner a week ago. He tells his experiences about interview a foreigner in other country. He asks us about each group can be couple sit. After then, Some groups were divided to be two group, there are left group and right group. A member of left group or right group must be presented about first experience meet a foreigner and describe about identity and character from a foreigner. 

I see two of the students who sit in front who wear the hijab. They’re Endah and Feby. They look concern Mr. Aji’s explanation. In this section, Endah and feby get Right2(R2) group code. Then, this class looks crowded but Mr.Aji decides some group to Left 1 group, left 2 group, left 3 group, etc same as right groups too, because of it, he makes a role of presentation. We can’t be noisy and must be given a question to presenter. Endah and Feby look prepare about presentation with power point media on their bench.

First presenter is left 3 group in front of the class. We look concern story by the left 3 group.I see, Endah and feby are the 2nd presenter because the group before chooses them. They use power point media.

Feby starts with said 

“Assalamualaikum” and explain about first slide about experience, she said “On Thursday morning October 2nd 2014, We try to find a foreigner. The first place is in Balai Bahasa, but there is nobody. We continue searching foreigner around Kampung Turis then We find 2 foreigners. The first foreigner says that she don’t have enough time to get some interview. The second foreigners can’t be met because they enter a homestay, so we can’t do anything. We go to Alun-Alun Tugu Malang. We see that there’re about 4 foreigners who are sweeping the road. After then, we park our motorcycle then prepare our synopsis of Malam Jumat Kliwon, recorder, pen and a gift”. 

And then, endah said 

“After that we walk to the foreigners. Seeing that we confused, a women comes and say hello to us. We don’t know her name, but she says, “Can I help you ?”. then we say that we wanna get some interview with the foreigner. Then the women asks to one of them to get some interview and He seems agree with that.After that, the foreigner comes to us and we start the interview. “

Endah tells the next slide about introduction 

“We start introduce our self before and we tell that where we come from state university of malang, And He responses us, He tells about his name is Elder Getter, He from state of Utah America, He is missionary for his church and He stay in Indonesia for 2 years. He looks so friendly, white skin, and handsome.” 

And then feby said 

“any question?”

The student of this class looks enthusiastic to ask a question. one question from Rofiatus about how long he stay in malang , Indonesia. And we answer its 2 days. And then question from Adipura about he can or can’t be use Indonesia language.And they answer yes, he can, Elder said “saya ada les bahasa inggris di gereja saya,kalian bisa datang tapi saya lupa jalannya” and we are in this class are laugh together. Last question from Mr. Aji about his name “Elder Getter”, they explain his name is following his name tag, it is Elder Getter. And then Mr. Aji explains about gift name in other country, Elder is old brother and getter is gift name. Its unoriginal name. 

We are closing this presentation with said 

“Thank you for your attention, We’re sorry for our mistakes. Wassalamualaikum” . 

And then we choose other group, it is Right 1 group and right 1 group must do the same.Because every group must give a question, so Endah ask to Luthfi and asnah group about “where do they live now?”.This is about a foreigner who interview by them.but they don’t know about it. And Feby ask to Wildan and Ifa about “What about UM in his mind ? “(his = foreigner), and then they answer it. 

Finally, This lesson is enough at 01.30 pm. Mr. Aji explains about task for next week is still about interview a foreigner with a recorder.

Hallo.. On October 1st 2014, This is the 7th class of Advanced English Engineering. We meet Mr.Aji again. In this class, Mr. Aji explains about writing of broadcasting. He says that writing and speak the news must make an intimate conversation with daily language. And then Mr.Aji gives a quote from Marilyn Vos Savant “Have you ever notice that when you must strunggle to hear something ,you close your eyes”. This is a super quote to open this lesson. I see Endah and Feby sit at the 1st banch. They look more attention at that topics slides. Some students are setting up the sound system at Mr.Aji’s table. It uses to hears some ICT news from Mr.Aji at last lesson.

Then Mr. Aji gives more explain about news at TV and Radio. TV gives a picture, it is worth of thousand words and then radio just gives shade, nuance, pause, pitch of the news reader. when we speaks a news, we must :

1. Use plain English

• No time for audience to find the meaning of one complex word, use :
• Poor instead of impoverished
• Truth instead of veracity
• Sex Instead of gender
• Contraction is better

2. Use Concrete Words

Example : “ A Scottish terrier named bobby today saved……..”

3. Avoid inverted sentences

Usually use a sentence : Because of

4. Use every day expression

5. Reduce the of adjective and adverb

6. Use contraction

Mr. Aji asks us to write an example of breaking news about activities out off class, and this example of breaking news :

On October 1st 2014, in H5 202A, Five students of electrical engineering are presenting about adder in front of the class. It’s because they do the task from their lecturer.

We can use present tense to write a news. Don’t use “yesterday” or “last night”. at the end of his class, he gives us a task.
